This song is a twist off of "Oh my Darling" the cute little song for kids. Since it is a well known tune but with different words, it makes us find it funny and clever. Also it is a clever song because the kid singing it is funny. Another unique thing about it is that the song is a little more upbeat and happy than the book Frankenstein really is. Also this song relates to the book in two other ways. First it talks about the crazy doctor. And secondly, it mentions the creature and how it was brought to life.
Medium: Literature:
Frankenstein’s Monster by J.M. van Brenda
A dusty flickering light bulb
Sways back and forth,
Hanging from the center
Of the yellow-stained ceiling.
A wrinkled hand picks up a rusted scalpel
From the steel table,
Blood dripping from the tip,
Making a final cut with surgical precision.
Blood oozes from the gaping wound,
Stitches holding together red and sore flesh.
Frankenstein smiles with pride,
His creation is complete.
Milky eyes open wide,
The monster gasping for breath,
His heart pounding against iron plate
As he trembles from the table.
Stitches stretch as he opens his arms,
Blood dripping on his bare feet.
A scream echoes through the room,
A scream of pure madness.
The monster falls to the ground,
Tears and blood mixing.
Victor stands frozen in the corner,
Watching in horror, 'What have I done?'
The poem starts out with the making of the monster, which are very
detailed using pictures in your mind of “blood ooz[ing]” and “sore flesh”. It also
addresses Victor’s pride of creating the monster. The best part is the horrific
sequence of the monster waking up. A lot of poets make the monster a killer that
feels no pain. This poem rightly goes into detail of the pain the monster is going
through. Overall, a great take on the darkness of the creature.
Medium: Art:
Frankenstein's Womb by Marek Olekicki
This portrayal of the creature was meant to inspire fear. The raged hair along with the feral looks in his eyes shows hints of being a beast. However, the coat and ear bring him some sort of human appearance. The creature looks blank, no emotion or evidence is visible however he does portray a mood of loneliness The creature looks like a man if it weren't for the stitch marks around his face. There is something about his chin, though, something that looks of death.
Similarities of all three:
All three mediums talk or show that the creature is deformed and different. The art portrays Frankenstein as a part human creature while the song says that he is a monster. Either way you put it, a part human monster is pretty terrifying and scary. The art and poem both are very detailed about the creepy stuff and that makes the hair standup on the back of your neck. These mediums display many different moods, but they all have a common purpose. All three mediums portray a mood of complex and twisted natures, the nature of man is constantly at war with the beast within. That is why this story is so appealing, a small bit of it is in all of us.
I really enjoyed the contast between the art work of the first post compared to this one they are such different pictures of the same thing!
ReplyDeleteI really like the picture you chose of Frankenstein. It shows the un-natural and revengeful side of him. It's not what you would expect!
ReplyDeleteThe poem you chose was great in that it was very descriptive and gave a great visual of the creation of the monster. Great similarities paragraph and connection to life and the people around us.
ReplyDeleteThe poem goes along with what happened in the book really well especially showing how abrupt Victor's change in behavior towards the monster. It also depicts how the monster felt well.
ReplyDeleteI loved the song you chose I watched the video and it was absolutely adorable and I really enjoyed it, also it does give the monster Frankenstein a little more up beat
ReplyDeleteI liked the song you picked because it was more up beat and happy. I also liked the picture because it portrays him as part human. Good job on your similarities paragraph!
ReplyDeleteThe artwork that was chosen in this post was fantastic. I get the feeling that that creature is intelligent in its own way, but also, you can see a sense of rage and loneliness in the creatures face. I quit enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI like how the creapy picture protrays the monster. For me it kind of gave the idea that even though reading the book you sympathize with him and his struggles, if you came acrooss the creature in some bazare way it'd be natural to have the same prejudice as the characters in the book.
ReplyDeleteI also loved the artwork, the viciousness in the monster's eyes really relate to Frankenstein. And the rashness of his clothes and appearance remind me of what the monster may have looked like in the woods learning about humans and fire.
ReplyDeleteI liked how there are scars all around his face to show that a new one has been put on. It really emphasizes the fact that he was put togethor from scraps of people.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the literature, It was very descriptive and explained the all the aspects of the creature! I also enjoyed the picture because it brought out the inner terror in Frankenstein and Expressed the revenge that he wants on the world. All three were different than any of the other pieces I have seen. Great Job!
